I have setup a full *arr stack on my home server about one year ago. I am having some trouble finding some specific content that is not listed by popular public indexers (mostly TV shows with lots of episodes). However, my friends can find the same content in stremio, so I know there are torrents of the content out there. I have asked them to share some magnet links to specific media the *arr stack has failed to source, and I have tried to trace back their origins.

Peer review is overwhelmed—can it survive in the AI era? (arstechnica.com)

Community iconscience@beehaw.org by
alyaza [they/she]@beehaw.org

The number of papers indexed in the databases Scopus and Web of Science, for example, has recently been increasing exponentially, at a rate of 5.6 percent per year. By one estimate, researchers around the globe are devoting a collective 15,000 years of work to peer review every year—work that, if paid, would cost $1.5 billion for the share done in the US alone. Increasingly, researchers are finding it hard to donate that kind of time.

What I’m looking for is a simple FLOSS add-on for Firefox through which the address bar recognizes Fediverse-style account handles as such, i.e. it infers the URL that corresponds to that profile and opens it. (Or alternatively: It shows that handle on one specified instance, e.g. always from your Mastodon home instance.)

Recession nails or racial erasure? Why a ‘naked’ manicure is not as neutral as it seems (theguardian.com)

Community iconwomensstuff@piefed.blahaj.zone by
velma@sh.itjust.works

Online the “naked” look is credited as part of wider trends, including the “clean girl aesthetic” that has become synonymous with slicked-back hair and dewy skin. Dominated by wealthy, white women, it has been criticised for co-opting black and brown beauty habits. Ranking “naked” nails as more desirable than statement styles, especially when nails and nail art are so rooted in race, further taps into this, with some critics considering it a form of erasure.
